Summary:
Years ago when she was still in the country-side, young Okegawa Himeno has lost her way back to her place. For about two days she wandered around the mountains. When she was found, she couldn’t remembered anything. All she knew that there was “a dolphin in the woods”.

Okegawa Himeno is already a graduate from middle school. She now went to Tokyo to study in high school. She seems so excited since she’ll be going to the big city, Tokyo.
And then there was this person Myoujin, a person who “guides” spirits. He can see spirits, hear, talk and interact with them. He doesn’t force spirits to cross the line, instead he just talks to them. If he found that the spirits are a problem and is very dangerous to the humans, he’ll then use his powers to force this spirits away.

When Himeno was waiting for the bus, she fell asleep. He remembers the day after she got rescued to the mountains. She got a fever and nightmares for three days. Her mom believed that she really saw a dolphin. Her mom told her that everyone has one or two mysterious things happened to them. She then woke up as she heard a voice saying — “the promise”. When she woke up, she saw a guy — he is Myoujin. She saw him doing something weird (Myoujin was reading a book for the spirit girl). Since Himeno can’t still see spirits yet, she finds Myoujin weird. Myoujin then asked the spirit girl to go to the apartment now. Myoujin now tries to talk to Himeno. But Himeno is scared because he is a stranger and he might just be flirting with her. So Himeno tries to avoid him. But Myoujin saw something on top of her, a creature, it’s the dolphin — a Rusen-chuu. He tries to warn Himeno not to pass under at that spot. The Rusen-chuu tries to attack Myoujin but Himeno is still wondering what Myoujin is doing (since Himeno still can’t see ghosts yet). Then Myoujin asked Himeno that if she ever believes in ghosts. Instead of giving him a reply, Himeno ran away as fast as her could. The ghost also disappeared.

Himeno was walking in a street. When a guy is chasing her — it was Myoujin. She thought Myoujin was a molester and a pervert for following her down. But as he was chasing Himeno, something hit Myoujin. He stopped and pulled into something. He then tells Himeno if she sees something, she must run away. If she sees it, it means she’ll face death.

Himeno was tired of running away to Myoujin so she stopped for a while in a tunnel. While catching her breathe, she saw a ghostly figure — it was the dolphin. The dolphin spirit told her if she remembers “the promise”. At first she doesn’t remember, but the voice seems so familiar.

She now then remembers the day that she did her best to forget what had happened. She remembers meeting the dolphin in the mountains asking the dolphin where could the town be as Himeno is lost. The dolphin told her the way to her town, but the dolphin has a deal with her. Since the dolphin helped her, in exchange for that, after ten years when the seal may be broken, the dolphin would come to meet her again, tremble her in fear and shall eat her soul.

Back to the present, the Rusen-chuu is trying to scare her and eventually going to eat Himeno’s soul. But someone helped Himeno — it was the pervert, Myoujin. lol. Myoujin then explains what a Rusen-chuu ghost is. He said that it is a kind of spirit manifested from the sentiments of hate and bitterness of animals that have lived here since ancient times. Myoujin thought that this spirits were already eliminated. He then theorize that may be an exorcist left the process undone, that’s why the spirit is still here. He also said that this kind of spirit is a Yin-Haku — a bad spirit. Unable to be seen or felt by people. But in the other hand it may cause harm to living beings. Myoujin then started to put something on his hand, then tries to seal the spirit. Himeno then watches as the spirit vanishes into thin air.

Then there you go, she now tries to go at her apartment. But she is lost again, even though she has a map.. lol. She then remembers Myoujin, saying that from now on she’ll probably be seeing some ghosts, since now she have seen one and believe in one. Anyway she already found her apartment — a very creepy apartment. She thought of it as a haunted house. As she walks near through it. Someone suprised him — it was Myoujin!!! Myoujin was in fact the “superintendent” of the apartment. Himeno remembers her mom saying that everyone has one or two mysterious things happened to them. But to Himeno, 10 mysterious things is an understatement. Welcome to Utakata Villa!
